Joe Kuta spent his summer interning at Poba Medical, where he gained more than just engineering skills. Joe was able get hands-on experience in a start-up environment where "everyone looks out for each other" and he was able to be involved in multiple sectors of the business including: sales and marketing. Interning at Poba has helped prepare him for life after college by helping identify other interests that he holds in the medical field outside of engineering.

Collecting data in the medical device field is critical to the success of your device. Using two types of testing dimensional and burst testing, Poba Medical is able to generate data that measures the physical attributes of a balloon and it's performance.

Kylie's Hurst joins the Poba team as a manufacturing operator. Her previous experience working as an EMT and telemetry technician makes her a perfect fit to the Poba team where she works alongside another tester to make sure each balloon meets the appropriate specifications. Kylie states she chose to work at Poba because she wanted a different perspective of the medical device industry.

The medical balloon development and technology transfer is composed of many steps which include: market research, balloon conception, prototyping, validation testing and manufacturing for commercialization. Each of the product development and technology transfer steps require significant attention to detail and careful documentation in order to meet regulatory standards.
